Designer FAQ

The questions we answer most often, in one place.

Money

What do I earn? 10% of every paid order containing your design. Every product, every size, worldwide, for as long as it sells. A $35 tee pays you $3.50.

Is that 10% of the sale price or of the profit? Of the paid order value. Not of some internal margin you can't see.

Do I pay anything to join? No. No account fee, no listing fee, no premium tier.

When and how am I paid? Two ways, whichever suits you:

  • Any time your balance reaches $25. Withdraw as often as you cross it.
  • Once a month, whatever the balance. Even $5. So a slow month never locks your money in.

Earnings become withdrawable once the order has been delivered, not when it is placed. With our delivery times that means a sale takes a few weeks to mature into a payable balance — your dashboard shows both figures separately, so you always know what is earned and what is available.

What happens if a customer returns an item? The commission for that order is deducted. If the refund arrives after you were paid, it nets off your next earnings rather than being billed back to you.

This is not bureaucracy — it closes an obvious hole. Without it, anyone could publish a design, order a stack of it themselves, cross the payout threshold, withdraw, and then refund the lot. Redbubble and every other royalty platform work the same way for the same reason.

Rights

Who owns my artwork? You do. Always. You license us to print and sell it; you keep the copyright.

Can I sell the same design elsewhere? Yes. We don't ask for exclusivity.

Can I remove my designs and leave? Yes, at any time, and here is exactly what happens.

Your designs come down immediately — they stop appearing anywhere on the site, and no new orders can be placed. Orders already placed and in production are finished and shipped to those customers; we don't cancel someone's shirt because you left.

You still get paid for that tail. Commissions on those remaining orders accrue and pay out normally, so leaving never means forfeiting money you have already earned.

Your account moves to a closing state while the tail finishes, and once it's done you can delete it completely.

Do you ask what tools I used? No. How you make your work is your business — we judge the design, not the method. Whatever the route, the rights have to be yours; generative tools break that rule more easily than people expect, so see the intellectual property page.

Files and production

What size and format should my file be? Two routes, both documented in full at /blog/file-specifications.

Front & back artwork — two ordinary square images, minimum 1024×1024 px, 2048+ recommended. We build the garment layout, tiling and print files for you. Non-square uploads are centre-cropped, so keep the subject centred.

Print-ready file — you author the full-garment canvas yourself: strictly square, 8114×8114 px native (4000×4000 accepted but prints softer), JPEG or PNG, flat raster with no layers.

RGB or CMYK? RGB. Do not convert to CMYK "for print" — our eight-channel reactive process reproduces saturated tones that CMYK conversion throws away.

Can I print neon or fluorescent colours? No. Those require surface pigments; reactive dye bonds into the fibre and cannot reach fluorescent brightness. You'll get a strong saturated colour, not a glowing one.

Can I have a white element in my design? Yes — white is the undyed cotton. There is no white dye, so think of white as an area you reserve rather than a colour you apply.

Will my design be cut by seams? Yes — we print the fabric, then cut and sew. But there is a safe zone: the central 3260×4096 px window of the front file becomes the chest and stays whole. Put faces and lettering there. Expect about ±2% shift where panels meet, so treat the outer 2% of a panel as bleed and don't rely on geometric alignment across a seam.

Which products will my design appear on? By default, every product it fits. Our system works out which garments the artwork suits and publishes it to as many of them as possible — you don't have to do anything.

You stay in control from your dashboard: switch off any product you don't want your design to appear on, and choose a default product — the one your design leads with in listings and on your designer page.

I don't want to build a layout at all. Can I still publish? Yes. Upload a square front and back artwork and we lay them out for you — or describe the idea in one line and let Studio build the design for you.

Publishing and review

How long does review take? Within 24 hours.

Why was my design rejected? The most common reasons are intellectual property (brands, characters, faces — including in the title) and resolution too low for full-canvas print.

Can I edit a design after publishing? Not the artwork itself. Once a design is live, the file stays as it is — an order already in production has to be printed with the file the customer bought.

If you want to change the art, publish it as a new design. When you take the old one down you can point it at the new one, so any links and traffic pointing at the old design carry over.

Two exceptions:

  • Title and description can be edited from your dashboard. Changes go through moderation before they appear.
  • A genuine defect — an artefact along an edge, a file that exported wrong — is not a redesign, and we don't want you republishing over it. Write to us and we'll fix it by hand.

Will you change my design's name? No. We don't rewrite designers' titles — which also means a title that creates a legal risk gets the design rejected rather than quietly renamed.

Selling

Do I get a page of my own? Yes: allover.art/designer/yourname, with your banner, bio, links and every product carrying your prints. One link to share wherever you already have an audience.

Do you promote my designs? We run the shop, the catalogue, the search presence and the ads. We can't promise any individual design gets pushed — the ones that sell get more visibility, which is the same deal everywhere, honestly stated.

How do I see my sales? In your designer dashboard, updated with every order.

Can I see which of my designs get viewed but not bought? Not yet. Right now the dashboard covers sales and payouts. View statistics — separately for listings and for product pages — are built and waiting on the roadmap; we'll tell you when they're live.

Us

Who actually prints this? We do, at our own factory. Not a third-party print network — which is why production times are stable and why we can talk about the process at this level of detail.

Where do you ship? Worldwide. Delivery to the door: 12–27 days for the US and Canada, 9–23 days for the UK and EU, 16–37 days for Australia and the rest of the world.

What if a customer has a problem? Printing, shipping, support and returns are on us. You never handle a customer.
